Evanston Symphony Announces Auditions for Principal Horn

The Evanston Symphony will hold auditions for principal horn of the Evanston Symphony Orchestra on September 8, 2022.

There are some important things to know before you audition.

We rehearse on Tuesday nights 7:30-10pm.  We expect attendance at all rehearsals.

Rehearsals of concert week are Tuesday, 7:15-10 pm, and Saturday, usually at 12:30-3:30 pm. These rehearsals are mandatory.

Soloist Change for May 22nd

Sihao He

The Evanston Symphony Orchestra is sorry to report that Arlen Hlusko will no longer be the soloist in our upcoming May 22nd concert. Arlen has a serious shoulder injury. The Dvořák Cello Concerto soloist will now be Sihao He.  He has already won numerous awards and has a close connection with Evanston. He has a Master's Degree from the Bienen School of Music at Northwestern University, and is currently studying there for his D.M.A. degree under the tutelage of Hans Jorgen Jensen.

As Area Experiences Omicron Covid Variant Surge, Evanston Symphony Orchestra Postpones Feb. 13 Concert

Evanston, IL —With the COVID-19 Omicron variant affecting all of Northern Illinois and the US, the Evanston Symphony Orchestra and Music Director Lawrence Eckerling have decided to postpone the scheduled Feb. 13 subscription concert. The new date is June 19 and will feature Tchaikovsky’s 4th Symphony, Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 23 with soloist Hyejin Joo and Beethoven’s Egmont Overture. The rescheduled concert will be held at the Evanston Township High School Auditorium. All tickets will be honored.
