Most memorable performance with the ESO

February 9, 1996. I was nine months pregnant with my first child. There was the chance I could go into labor during the concert. My son was born five days later.

Favorite ESO soloist

Violinist Mark O’Connor

Why I like playing with the ESO

I started to play the violin when a music teacher suggested it. I played in the elementary school orchestras beginning in 1st grade and have played in orchestras wherever I’ve been ever since. I love the experience of being part of a community coming together creating music.

Favorite composer or piece

The Hebrides Overture (“Fingal’s Cave”) by Mendelssohn and The Planets by Holst.

When I’m not playing with the ESO, I’m…

I am an artist working mostly in ceramics. This past summer and fall, once a month, I drove to Ohio to spend time hanging out with horses. I love being home with my family, and taking care of our two little dogs. I also love to travel. I know a place in the desert outside of Tucson where I go to replenish and nourish my soul.

Something most people don’t know about me

My first violin teacher was Irene Abosch, who served as assistant concertmaster of the Denver and Colorado Symphony Orchestras since 1953 (now retired) and is the co-founder of the Denver Baroque Ensemble. I also played in the Colorado State University Orchestra with Will Schwartz as the conductor and professor. He also conducted the Fort Collins Symphony, and only stepped down there after 50 years in 1999.
