Songs of the Season

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow once wrote, "Human voice is the organ of the soul." Every ESO holiday concert includes the human voice. Voices lift us up and inspire us, and when many voices come together, it’s one of the most moving things a person can hear.

This holiday concert will once again feature the Evanston Symphony Holiday Gospel Choir and the North Shore Choral Society. The Evanston Symphony Gospel Choir is a hometown favorite, led by Evanston’s own Reverend Kenneth Cherry, and the Northshore Choral Society brings together singers from all around Evanston.

The voices in these wonderful choirs will come together to celebrate the season with you. Classics like selections from Handel’s Messiah, including “And The Glory of the Lord” and the “Hallelujah Chorus," are timeless pieces that are sure to put you in the holiday mood. Rev. Wright's “Oh What a Pretty Little Baby” will have you rocking in your seat with soulful rhythms, and John Rutter’s Donkey Carol evokes the gait of a donkey on the road to Bethlehem, which will speak to everyone’s sense of wonder.
